Wood Duck 12x18

$185.00

I’ve always struggled to capture good images of waterfowl. Sure, I can go to the backyard in the spring and get all the Canada geese I could ask for, plus some. But when it comes to the more defining waterfowl, like wood ducks and mallards and pintails (my personal favorite), I usually screw up and miss it or they fly off.

In this case, I was able to capture him eyeing me apprehensively in captivity. I’m not big on captivity being a “natural” habitat, so I use my captive animals as artwork instead.

This image has won numerous awards both at the state level (Texas) and the national level (Animal Image Makers, Professional Photographers of America, etc).

Part of series I want to make featuring some of the more colorful, beautiful ducks. That sounds duckist. I should probably work on the less colorful ducks, too. Also duckish.

Moonlight Prowl 12x24

$359.00

Bridger was walking down some rocks in the enclosure at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. I always hesitate at zoos and rehab centers because I obviously don't want to pass it off as natural. But I saw this pose and decided to make some art, like usual.

This was a different concept. I normally make my wildlife in daylight but I thought it would be cool to have it at night with the moon out.

Trudging Through the Yellowstone 10x30 Print

$459.00

Life in Yellowstone is harsh. In fact, there are MANY, MANY, MANY documentaries that show just how harsh it can be. I have now been to Yellowstone for each of its four seasons and this one was by far the most challenging.

The bison were moving from one area to another, crossing the snow-covered roads and making their way to the valley. The sun had come out long enough to get JUST the right light for these majestic and obstinate creatures.

And yet here they are, thriving.

Golden Hour 15x30 Print

$459.00

This buck was crossing a field in Colorado when he found himself sharing space with a group of mule bucks. They ended up traveling together, which was pretty cool.

I love the light and shadow play here, with the golden hues and the blue tones in the shadows.

The Buck 16x24 Fine Art Print

$499.00

I was invited to teach a short class for the International Society of Animal Photographers in the summer of 2024 and part of that class was a demo on how I make some of my “graphite” style artwork featuring wildlife (and sometimes pets and people in this style, too).

The original image was captured in Colorado with some friends on a trip. For the demo, I showed the viewers how I start extraction and painting the image in Photoshop using a tablet and pen. The class wasn’t long enough so I embellished it further after the class had ended and this was the result.

I love this one. It’s kind of a staple here in the south to have some form of game on the walls. I never killed a good looking buck before so this will have to do (insert laugh emoji but there’s no emoji on the website).

Winter's Morning Prowl 10x20 Print

$209.00

In Yellowstone with some friends on a winter trip, most of what we saw were hungry coyotes (some of which appeared to not be having a very good season). This was one of the few that looked fairly healthy.

He was just kind of chilling by the road overlooking a steep valley and we had to stop and get him. Not get him. We’re not THAT white.

It was around -14 degrees that morning, so you can imagine just how tough it is to survive. So this one is a survivor.

Spirit 15x30 Print

$459.00

Gold Medal, 2025 International Photographic Competition
Multiple State and National Awards 2024

“Spirit” is meant to be interpreted as the viewer sees fit. Whether you’re feeling patriotic or looking for a more natural sense of the term, it’s entirely up to you.

I photographed this eagle a few years ago and enjoyed the profile. I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to create a piece of art for myself that I could enjoy at my own home. Indeed, it’s hanging as a 20x40 in my living room in a frame.

Golden Buck 12x18

$185.00

It was the perfect light for this buck in Colorado as the sun was getting in just the right position. He wasn't alone, either. He had a buddy and they were chasing some tail.

No, really. It was a whitetail.

Winter's Heart 12x18

$185.00

Survival in winter in Yellowstone – really, the entire northern portion of the United States and most of Canada, can be harsh.

At -14 degrees, this big fluffy cow was resting. He was not part of a herd. This means he is most likely now nutrients in the soil.

Cruel truth. It is the perfect example of how powerful nature can be in our world. I thank God every day that I get to capture and display this type of work.

A moment of silence for this wolf meal.

The Bull 16x24 Print

$359.00

2024 American Society of Photographers Southeast District Award
2024 Judge’s Choice – Adilfa – ASP round 1
Score: 95/100
Texcellence
Silver Star of Texas
Yellow Rose Diamond Medal

This elk was from my first trip to Montana/Wyoming in 2021. We were at the top of a ridge on the way to Hayden Valley and he and his harem were grazing. He was covered in urine, his own version of Bod spray, and was definitely feeling it with his ladies.

Unfortunately for me, the light was too high in the sky for a better image than what I had, so I sat and stared at the original photograph for about a year before I made up my mind what to do. I altered the shadows by hand and redirected the light on his coat so that it could be more appealing. Then I painted it four or five layers deep in Photoshop.

Heron in Flight 20x30 Print

$459.00

Okay, this one is more of a lesson for some folks.

I was out and about early in the morning of the fall in 2023 with my new camera and decided to head to the Alabama River. The sun was rising and the water was providing diffused light over every inch of the bank. In comes this heron, minding its own business.

For every bit of forty-five minutes, this heron and I worked together to capture some great poses. No really, even while it was hunting for minnows and smaller fish in the streams, it continued to create some compelling poses for me.

While this was happening, a couple of fishermen showed up to fish off the stairs at the top of the lock and dam. One of them decided to venture down to the sandbar where the heron and I were working. I was being nice and said to myself that it wouldn’t be long before the heron was gone while this guy was walking around. The fisherman circled the whole sandbar, doing nothing in particular, before coming within about twenty-five yards of where the heron was minding its own business before he picked up a rock and threw it at the heron. It took flight and I got this image.

Now, I did capture this image so I’m not mad about the flight. I’m just saying that the moral of the story is to not be a douche, which is what I called the guy as he was making his way back up to the stairs. He didn’t say anything back.

The Heron 16x20

$209.00

I photographed this heron on the beach at Orange Beach back in 2019 and created this piece of award-winning art which helped earn my Master of Photography degree.

Giraffe 12x18

$185.00

I made this for fun so that I could get a gift for some kids. I was also told that women love giraffes. So if you're a woman and you're single...this is a giraffe just for you.

The Mandarin 12x18 Print

$185.00

My second image installment in my duck series (only two so far as of 5/21/25).

This has won a couple of awards.

I thought I'd never get to see a Mandarin until I visited the Gulf Coast Zoo a couple of years ago and man I'm so glad I did. This was a great installment in the series.

Prowler 16x24 Print

$359.00

This leopard was at the Montgomery Zoo.

Can't tell if its male or female, but it was definitely working it for me. Gave me the stare, gave me the pose, and then decided to go up and down its tree limb in the enclosure. Absolutely perfect.

Woodie 12x12 Print

$59.00

We've all seen the tattoos and the stickers on trucks. I wanted something that was great for the house.

I created this wood duck head from a photograph I made a few years back and really enjoyed bringing out the colors of the plumage and defining it a bit more for this. I actually printed and put little prints in my Christmas cards in 2023 for some clients.

Wolf of the Hoodoo 12x18 Print

$185.00

Diamond Medal, International Photographic Competition

Bridger, again, with that good stare and pose. I'm telling y'all, this wolf is my MUSE!

'Tis the Season 20x30 Print

$459.00

I was in the car with my friend Kory in Colorado and we were on our last run through the park. Deer everywhere. This one was feeling it. If you know, you know.

Bridger 16x24 Print

$359.00

So Bridger, if you can't tell, is all over my work.

This is a combination of two of his poses and it came together very nicely.

I wanted to combine him with the idea that he's in a studio setting with a muslin background. I photographed the dirt path and trees in Montana and painted over it until I had a muslin-style background. I painted and combined the entire scene together to give it this award-winning view.

Spirit of the Wild 16x16 Print

$159.00

A graphite-style digital painting of Bridger.

Golden Eyes 10x20

$209.00

Wolves are always watching.

I love wolf's eyes. They're gorgeous.

I painted this crop with the intention of just staring into those eyes
